During your stay, discover Cabrières-d’Avignon, a picturesque village in the heart of Provence’s traditional dry-stone country, close to Gordes.
Authentic and peaceful, the village offers a wonderful Provençal way of life, with local amenities including a butcher, bakery, café and restaurant. Less touristy than neighbouring Gordes, it has retained its charm and relaxed atmosphere.
Wander through its narrow streets lined with traditional dry-stone walls and discover the historic Mur de la Peste (Plague Wall), built from dry stone in 1720 in an attempt to protect the Comtat Venaissin from the spread of the plague. Part of the wall still remains between Lagnes and Cabrières-d’Avignon, providing a lovely walking route through landscapes of dry stone, garrigue and cedar trees.
